Off we go!!

spent the day packing, doing all those last minute things that for some reason never get done until those final moments...

my parents drove us to airport. we arrived three hours before the flight, good thing too because there was a line an hour long stretching between two sections of the airport!! check out vlog 1 for footage of the line and our first few days in Europe!

finally made it through and had a few moments to relax at the gate at a bar that had changing colors of neon.

they let me take my guitar on the flight, and luckily it fit in the overhead with Aliza’s violin.

couldn’t sleep, watched the two really bad movies, and then looked out at the sunrise over the atlantic.

was cloudy over ireland and england, but could finally see some land by the time we got over france.

landing at charles-de-gaulle airport, they put you on buses and drive you to customs. the officers there just say hi and look at your passport, then let you through. our bags came quick, and we took the metro into Paris.

the hotel arrival was funny; the lady said ‘oh there are people still in your room’ and she started yelling at someone up the stairs to come fix it. they argued for a couple of minutes in strong Parisian accents and then finally said we will give you a room for four instead. happy to have a room, we wanted to sleep but figured we should just stay awake and go to bed early to get on europe time; we had left montreal at 11pm and arrived in paris at 11am.

our hotel was in a part of Paris called Montmatre, overlooking the rest of the city, so we climbed the stairs up to the land of cute cafes and wine and too many tourists. had a great little meal while listening to a street violinist. walked around some more, drank more wine and then headed to bed.
