back to kiel

the next concert was at Marlies' house, and we were put in contact with her by Robin Aigner, who had toured a similar circuit last july. (thank you robin!) Marlies is beautiful and kind lady with long silver hair and a big smile. she met us at the train station, squeezed us into her cute red car, and drove us to her nearby apartment, which turned out to be in the neighbourhood of Prinz Willy, the bar we played at last year, and the organizer for the next day's concert.
After meeting her husband and son, we all had a great lunch and got to know each other more.
The kindness of people here has always amazed us, but we were still surprised when Marlies told us that the family in the huge flat on the second floor was going out of town for the weekend (and were sad about missing our show) and would let us stay the two days in their empty apartment! really amazing generosity :)
So after relaxing a bit in the afternoon, it was suddenly show time.
A great crowd came for Marlies' third living room show. We were again impressed by the listening skills of people in Kiel; we really felt the audience listening to every note, very passionate and engaged with our music.

We enjoyed a little sleep-in the next morning, and then went on some errands downtown, bought some train reservations for upcoming days of travel.

We enjoyed a lazy afternoon, and Marlies' son Joschka came over to give us a ride to nearby Stein.

(Prinz) Willy organizes concerts there with Tatort Hawaii, a kite surf and wind surf shop and school. the shows are actually in the shop and the audience is seated either next to the beached boat that is a bar, or on the nearby lawn that is the sea side park. They do the shows once a month all summer, but this was the first time they had done a september show. the forecast had called for sun and a bit of cloud, but it was all cloud and a lot of wind. but the crowd huddled cozily under blankets that were given out, and we had a fun short set. there were two other bands playing, one from berlin, and another from sweden. we got to spend some good moments with the swedish band while the berlin band was playing. very cool folks. joschka had patiently put off some saturday night plans for us, so we headed out halfway through the last set.

had a cool ride home listening to the soundtrack for Amelie Poulin in the car and we all were enchanted by the music...
